| Selecting the right hidden cameras Hidden
cameras are cameras that are disguised as, or hidden in, everyday
objects. They can be used to monitor employees or your baby's
caretaker, for covert surveillance, or for security purposes.
Advances in technology, mainly in the area of miniaturization,
have provided hidden cameras disguised as a variety of different
objects. Here are a few suggestions of what to look for when
choosing hidden cameras.
One of the first choices to make when choosing
hidden cameras is whether to use wired or wireless cameras.
Both have their advantages. Wired cameras can be used over
a greater distance, while wireless cameras are much easier
to install. When choosing wireless cameras, look for a 2.4GHz
operating frequency for reduced interference and better image
transmission. Also, rechargeable battery packs make installation
a breeze - a wireless camera with a rechargeable battery pack
requires almost no installation.
Another factor to consider is whether to
use color or black and white hidden cameras. Again, there
are advantages to both types. Color cameras provide more information,
such as the color of a person's clothing or the color of a
car. On the other hand, black and white cameras provide better
overall resolution and better low-light operation. Resolution
is usually specified in the number of horizontal lines the
camera uses to paint the image. Typical resolutions are 380
lines for color cameras and 400 lines for black and white
models.
Low-light sensitivity is usually specified
using the LUX value. A typical LUX value for a color camera
is 1 LUX, while black and white cameras can usually see down
to a value of .05 LUX. For the best possible results, use
one of our black and white models with X-Vision, a technology
that allows clear, sharp images down to .003 LUX. By way of
comparison, 1 LUX is about the amount of light available late
in the evening, around dusk. .1 LUX is about the amount of
light available in a well-lit parking lot at night. And .05
LUX provides the ability for the camera to "see"
better than the unaided human eye.
You will also need to consider the intended
location of the hidden cameras. This will determine the types
of objects used to hide the cameras. We have hidden cameras
disguised as over 35 different objects. You can choose models
that hide the camera in a teddy bear for use in the nursery,
a functioning CO2 detector for a bedroom, or a fully operational
can opener for the kitchen. We also have cameras that are
disguised as a fully functional wall thermostat, a fully functional
cordless phone, an exit sign, and an operational room fan.
No matter where you need to place the hidden cameras, we have
the solution.
As you can see, there are a number of factors
involved in choosing hidden cameras. This is a good reason
to do business with a company like ours - we have many years
of experience in this industry. You can benefit from this
experience by letting us help you choose the hidden cameras
that are perfect for your situation. |
